Do the people who make wrench wraps even *use* wrenches? That's what I wondered as I searched for a wrap that wasn't completely useless. I finally found these, which are the best option I've found, though they still fall short in a couple ways.My shop is mobile, and I frequently have to hand-carry tools away from the truck. I don't want to struggle with a 70-lb "portable" toolbox full of tools I don't need when I only need a set of SAE wrenches, hammer, and some screwdrivers. Old-school wrench wraps are the answer. But hard to find god ones!GOOD STUFF- Wrenches are securely held. Obviously this is job #1 for a wrench wrap! The main flap is generous and there's a nice little tab near the handle to keep your largest wrench from squirming out sideways. Very secure.- Closures (side-release plastic buckles) are fast&easy to operate. Nearly every other competitor uses strings/ties to close the wrap. Are you kidding me? What if you had to untie and then tie your shoelaces every time you needed a wrench?- The material is "medium duty" which I think is a good choice. It seems like it will survive mild abuse in the field, although I don't expect my grandkids to have it. But it's also not so stiff that it's hard to roll up, and it lays flat when open. Stiffer wraps tend to "flip" small wrenches off when they curl back up due to memory effect.- The shape makes sense! I can't believe how rare this is in wraps!!! There's enough pockets and of the right sizes to hold a typical set of box-end wrenches. There's not a lot of wasted material or loose, empty flaps in the way.- I like the center handle when it's rolled up. It doesn't stick out, so it doesn't snag, and most of the time I just grab the body of the wrap with an open hand. But when I do need the handle, it's there. Nice.SHORTCOMINGS- The binding straps are fed through loops in the webbing on the outside of the wrap, but they aren't anchored. So when you go to tighten them (by pulling the free end), THEY JUST SPIN. This is frustrating because all it takes is a few extra stitches to fasten the straps in position, then they can be tugged tight very easily. I used the "repair thread" that is included with these wraps (BTW: what the heck? This isn't a sundress!) to throw a few stitches in, and it makes these wraps MUCH more useful. See last photo for this mod.- The velcro on the main flap should just be left off. They make it harder to quickly flip the roll open after unrolling. Because the flap is so large and well-shaped, the velcro just isn't needed. Also, if you've ever *actually put wrenches in one of these*, you know that the flap gets skewed and wrinkled as you roll it up due to the thickness of the wrenches. This means the velcro tabs end up mis-aligned and are barely engaged (if at all) anyway. Did they even test these?!?- Some reviews say the manufacturer is now using D-rings instead of the side-release plastic buckles shown in the product photos. If true, that is a bad call. While certainly better than shoelaces, and more durable than plastic buckles, D-rings are not as fast to close/open as buckles. If the manufacturer is having problems with broken buckles, I suggest they change instead to better-quality ones; the current buckles are indeed pretty cheesy, light-duty parts. I know there are heavy-duty buckles on the market you can drive a car over.- The "small" end of the wrap is a little too short. My smallest wrenches are a bit longer than typical, so while my large ones (1" SAE and 22mm Metric) fit with room to spare on the "big end", my small ones (1/4" SAE and 7mm metric) are too tall for the "small end". The wrap still works, but it's a bit harder to roll up than it should be because of this. See first three photos for measurements of the pocket-heights at small, middle, and big ends. Doing the seller's job for them...- 14 pockets is great, but there's plenty of 15-piece wrench sets out there (like mine). Just add one more pocket, please!OVERALLWith just a couple small changes this product could be great:- Delete the useless velcro tabs.- With the money saved from that, install beefier side-release buckles.- Add some stitching to the straps so they can't "spin".And more substantial changes would take the product from great to *fantastic*:- Make the roll a bit longer, a bit taller on the small end, and add one more pocket.Because of the shape of the roll and its flap, having "too many pockets" is not a risk -- it will still hold everything securely even if only partially loaded. But having enough pockets to fit a full set of wrenches is pretty important.Similarly, "too deep" pockets is better than "too shallow". I can always shove a rag into the bottom of a deep pocket to make a short wrench fit. But if it's too shallow, the wrap won't close right. The price for these is currently very attractive but I would happily pay more for a better-designed product. This is especially true considering how poor the competition is. Still, I'm grateful to have some workable wraps now!Not a bad pouch for the price. I'm not a professional, so it seems adequate for my needs. I ordered two pouches, one for metric and one for standard. The material is mid-grade. The construction seems fairly solid. I noticed there's a some luck-of-the-draw when it comes to closure types. The product pictures show both buckle and string type closures. I read a review of someone who received a pouch with D-ring strap closures. The pouches I received had hook-and-loop (velcro-type) closures. I don't have a strong preference, so it's perfectly fine. But it seems like offering these as selectable options or picking a style and sticking with it would be better for the customer. That being said, I'm satisfied with the product.Well, I can't be too harsh about this tool pouch because it was only 16 bucks. However, I will say that mine differed quite a bit from the photo listed on Amazon. There was little to no consistency in regards to the stitched pockets. The stitches were barely even parallel with one another. One of the plastic clasps became broken due in it's first use. However, it's $16. Probably be a good idea to spend a little bit more and get something that is of a higher quality. The quality is fantastic , I just wish they could have made it a little taller at the smallest wrench side ,Great for shorter wrenches, standard Snap on ,Mac or Matco ,8,9,10 11mm, stick up to far ,past the fold.Forget long pattern wrenches all together. As the wrenches get bigger its fine. The short end it just an inch or so to short but you can still make it fold over, but not Velcro closed. If they fix this 5 stars!Unlike some, I didn't find this too small or too short at all. I guess that judgment is relative depending on what you store in it. I stored an sk open end ratchet set 3/8" to 7/8" with no problem and still had pockets left over for my Williams tube nut wrenches (4 combinations) I like the cover flap. Sturdy construction. No visible defects. Good price. Just a note, The flap over the tools is secured down with velcro. The roll is secured with D-rings. They are close enough to the ends you can just loosen and flip off. You don't have to take the strap out of the D-ring. I would have preferred the plastic snaps for closures as shown in the advertisement to the D-ring. That is why -1 star.Seems decently made, and had the right number of pockets for my portable wrench set. It is sized to be big enough for long pattern wrenches, so stubbies will probably almost disappear into the pockets.Mine came with the 2 D rings that others have mentioned, and not the quick snaps. Because of this, I rounded it down to 4 stars from 4 1/2. Nothing wrong with the D rings, they work fine, but that is not how they are described. The wrenches are held in pretty well, you fold a flap down to secure them in the pockets, then strap it tight, after rolling it up. There are 2 little Velcro tabs, to hold the flap in place.Seems like a decently built organizer. Unfortunately, the pockets are too narrow and too short to fit my wrench sets.Wrench roll seemed of good quality, too bad they sewed the dividers too small to actually put wrenches in them. Had to return.Looks durable. A little wider pockets would make it ideal for ratchet wrenches.Bought this for my husband, and he's a fan. Exactly as he expected. Nice and durable.Quality is good got here quick
